25 January 2011..it’s a part of history now. It’s the date where the Egyptian revolution began. Some might say that the revolution is good, while others may not. Whatever it may be, it still happened…

My friends and I were discussing an article. The article compared the Egyptian Revolution to the story of Ashabul Ukhdood..you know..the story of the Boy and the King??

If you don’t know, I’ll post it later..but what was interesting was the the similarities between the two events..

#1 In the story of the Boy and the King, the Boy was the one who started the spread of Islam. Due to him, the villagers believed in Allah..

In Egypt, the ones who started the revolution were, syabab..just like the Boy, he was a syabab too..so as syababs we should reflect and think back..what have we done for Islam??

#2 In the story, anyone that believed in something contradictory to the King would be punished or killed. Like the Rahib, he was killed for believing in Allah. The Boy was also killed, and lastly the villagers were all forced to jump in a fire.

In Egypt, it hasn’t come to that extent, but as we can see, anyone who goes against the government is somehow punished. Look at the elections, how can the same president be elected for decades but so many citizens don’t approve of him?? Anyone from another party isn’t allowed to participate.

These are just a few similarities. But it all got us thinking. There’s a hadith, if I’m not mistaken that talks about 5 eras before the Day of Judgement

1. TThe Era of the Prophet (saw)

2. TThe Era of the Khulafa’ Arrasyidin

3. TThe Era when Islam was on the top

4. TThe Era of fitnah and oppression

5. TThe Era of when Islam will be on top again

By this hadith, it looks like we are currently living in the the 4^th era. It started with the fall of the Othman Empire. The Day of Judgment is so near!
