.: Lessons of Life (1) :.

Bismillah,

Life works in a funny way. Sometimes it just takes one incident to change us, sometimes it takes many. But it all depends on us, on how we see life, on how we learn from life..

Alhamdulilah, I got the chance to go for umrah on the last 10 days of Ramadhan. Those 10 days taught me a lot about life..

1. The world is advancing so fast. Technology is becoming more and more integrated in our lives. Humans are remarkable, always updating, making life easier. But there are still people in the dark, who don't get to feel the advancing world..who think an airplane is a train( true story :) )

On the way to Jeddah, I sat beside an Egyptian lady. It was her first time on an airplane. It got me thinking, in my world riding an airplane is a normal thing. but in her world, riding an airplane is like a whole new experience. I mean during take off and landing, and whenever the plane would 'jump' due to turbulence, she would gasp and have a worried look.

Sure there's the saying that 'There's a first time for everything.' But by 2011, shouldn't everyone have ridden an airplane? What's the use of being so advance when not everyone feels it..

2. During my first suhur in Madinah, some seniors and I were looking for a place to eat. At then end we decided to eat on the stairs, since it was the cleanest place. But then one of the officers told us to move. She said we are not allowed to eat on the stairs.

At first we just ignored her, but then she came again. This time we pointed to the other people who ate at the stairs and questioned her why they were allowed to. Her answer was simple..

"You guys are better than them, why do you need to be like them?"

Sometimes when we see friends or people break a rule or do something their not suppose to and when we try doing it we get caught, the blame is always on them..what the officer said was so true..

Why do we need to follow what they do? Why do we even need to point out what they do?? When someone does something bad and gets scolded, we say, "I would never do that." But when they get away with it, automatically we wanna try too..

Wallahu 'alam..

i whole-heartedly agree with the 2nd scene. sometimes, we involuntarily lower ourselves to other people's level even though we realize that the things we did are obviously wrong. nice point! :)
